Learn About Yourself: It’s Important
Jasbina Ahluwalia asks Dr. Craig Martin, author of Elemental Love Styles: Right, absolutely. I have a final quote. The reason I selected this one is because I think it brings home everything we’re talking about in terms of elemental psychology.
You say, “People lack perspective about what they need because they are entrenched in habitual ways of seeing themselves and the world. But elemental psychology can help us cut through these established patterns and gain greater awareness of our relationships and ourselves.” Will you share with our listeners what you mean by that?

You’ve Been Conditioned, Learn About Yourself
It’s the idea that we have certain beliefs that are conditioned in us.
We’re conditioned to believe that we should want what our parents want or what society wants for us, rather than being authentic to who we really are.
Any system, it’s not just the elemental system, that helps us learn a little bit more about ourselves is helpful. The elemental view is very simple.
It’s an easy-to-understand view of who I am as an individual.
Learn About Yourself From Every Opportunity
If I said to you, “I wrote that book and discovered that I’m a fire type. I have a lot of watery qualities as well,” knowing that about myself helped me understand better who I am, rather than what society or my parents might have been trying to hand me.
That’s what that really means.
Learn About Yourself Through Self-Discovery
There is an opportunity through any form of self-discovery, but certainly through the elemental method, to learn a little bit more about ourselves and then be able to make choices that are based on those personal truths that actually belong to us as individuals, not as something that someone else might have wanted for us.
