Jasbina Ahluwalia = the Next Oprah?

BY: KSHWER

Second generation Indian-American attorney and matchmaker, Jasbina Ahluwalia hopes to be the next Oprah a la “Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star.” Your OWN Show,” a contest created in collaboration with the Big O’s TV channel, OWN and Tyra! reality show producer, Mark Burnett. In her audition tape for the spot of TV host in the “Health & Wellbeing Category”, 39-year old Ahluwalia, who is competing with almost 9,000 other contestants, suggests a concept for a show called Authenticity, which focuses on relationships and health and wellness. Ahluwalia already has over 4 million votes, putting her in the running with other top contestants, including Zach Anner, who’s leading with over 8 million votes and Dr. Phyllis, who has over 6 million votes. According to Ahluwalia, she only needs 4 million votes to get a chance to audition in front of the show’s producers. (The top five candidates get the chance to discuss their show concept with producers.)

The contest has already gotten attention after fans on both sides cried fowl when Anner’s votes suddenly far outstripped those of Dr. Phyllis. Some even suggested Oprah herself had rigged the contest. Anner proposes a globe-trotting show, while Dr. Phyllis, an educator, suggests a teaching show. But will Ahluwalia beat them both with her relationship show? We’ll all find out soon. Voting ends this Saturday night, July 3 at 11:59PM, so make sure you cast your ballot today!
