What Women Want

Jasbina Ahluwalia asks Marla Martenson, author of entitled Hearts on the Line: The Elusive Pursuit of Love in the City of Angels: There’s a limit to the outsourcing. You can outsource someone to find those people but you have to make the time to meet them and explore a relationship.

Do you see any patterns in what those women are looking for with respect to matches?

What Women Want: Successful Guy

They generally want a successful guy. They’ll tell me that they want him to be as successful as they are.

Some of the women have supported guys before and they don’t want to do that again.

What Women Want: Tall Guy

The challenges with women are the height factor. There are so many great guys out there at 5’7” and 5’8”.

It seems like, from the caveman days, it’s in our DNA.

The men want to seek health and fertility.

What Women Want: Protection

Women look for protection. They look for that tall man. Sometimes they are looking for someone over 6’ tall when the average American male is 5’9”.

That’s something that I try to get them to open up on. They need to open up on the type they think they need to have.

They will hire a matchmaker. You have these great selections for them but they want to see a picture. Then they will say, “No.”

That is with men and women, too. I say, “You hired me. If you want to pick people out of pictures, you can go on to Match.com. You have to trust me.”

People don’t always look like their pictures. You don’t see the animation or the personality. It’s just a one-dimensional shot in time.

Sometimes people are just not photogenic.
