Overcomplicated Diets: Drop Them!
Jasbina Ahluwalia asks Jackie Warner, author of This is Why You’re Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever): How interesting. In your book, you mention three simple rules. I’d like to share them one by one with our listeners and have you explain them.
The first rule you share is no overcomplicated diets or routines. Tell us about that.
I just did a very popular morning talk show on Saturday. We were talking about New Year’s resolutions.
Overcomplicated Diets: New Years Resolution
They said, “Why do people gain weight? Why do they set goals and then break their goals after the New Year?”
The biggest roadblock is trying to overachieve, such as setting a high weight-loss goal as well as getting into a complicated book, diet and fitness routine. You have to simplify it.
Overcomplicated Diets: Simplify for Success
We want to see things in a certain way. The simpler it is, the more we respond to it.
It took me a year to write the book and break down these principles. Then I rewrote it and rewrote it three times to simplify.
It actually took me a year and three months to turn in this book. I said, “It’s still too complicated. I have to make this so simple for people.”
That’s what I achieved in the book. It’s literally the easiest diet you have.
Overcomplicated Diets: Add Healthy Options
One of the principles in the book is that I add foods. I say, “Keep your junk food diet. Even if it’s bad, keep that diet. I’m simply going to add foods for the first two weeks. I’m not going to take anything away so that you don’t feel deprived in the least. I just need you to add these foods every day that will cause your body to burn more fat.”
I’ve been doing this for years. It’s very effective.
People responded that they were losing about one to two pounds a week by adding food to their existing junk food diet. That’s substantial.
That’s one of the tenets of the book that’s very unique.
Overcomplicated Diets: Body Does the Work
I always say that the body is a beautiful machine. It is perfect. It works perfectly, even if you’re 300 pounds overweight. It’s still a machine. If you simply start giving it the right fuel and the right nutrients, it will balance itself. It will cleanse its delivery.
It will start working properly. You just have to give it the right gasoline.
